Freight Line in Yokohama ‘Minato Mirai 21’
The neighborhood southeast of JR Yokohama Station on the other side of the estuary of the Katabira River is the most modern district of Yokohama city named ‘Minato Mirai 21’ (translated as Port Future 21st Century) symbolized by the Landmark Tower, up to now the third tallest skyscraper in Japan.
One freight only single track line brushes past the northern edge of the area, branching off from Tsurumi Station on the Tokaido Main Line, and converges with the JR Negishi Line, on which commuter trains of the Keihin-Tohoku service to and from Tokyo come and go.
Here can be seen JR Freight’s oil tanker trains from/to Negishi Station on the Negishi Line, which adjoins a large scale oil refinery of ENEOS Co.
