3rd sector railways

This month we take a look at 3rd sector companies and their rolling stock.

701 and 703, now more than thirty years old, are two of Kyoto Tango Railway’s distinctive railcars with large headlights. They are shown at the famous sightseeing location, Amanohashidate in Kyoto Prefecture, on 26th March 2021.


Motosu is the location of the depot for the Tarumi Railway in Gifu Prefecture. A change is necessary for passengers on some services, as shown here on 9th May 2021 with two contrasting railcars.


The headquarters and depot of the Tenryū Hamanako Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture are at Tenryū Futamata, temporarily renamed Daisanmura in an anime tie-up. Three of its cars are shown there on 8th August 2021.
