762mm (2ft 6in) Gauge Railways in Japan

In Japan there are three 762mm (2ft 6in) gauge railways in Japan that carry passengers. Two, the Sangi Tetsudo Hokusei Line and the Yokkaichi Asunaro Railway are regular service lines. The Kurobe Gorge Railway is an industrial / tourist railway.

Two Sangi Tetsudo Hokusei Line trains waiting to pass at Sohara.


Yokkaichi Asunaro Tetsudo operates two line, the Utsube Line and the short Hachioji Line. This picture shows a train at Nishihino the terminus of the Hachioji Line waiting to return to Yokkaichi.


The Kurobe Gorge Line trains are diesel hauled. This picture shows 2 locomotives with some of the open sided cars at the temporary Nekomata station.
