Members’ attention is drawn to interesting recent and forthcoming publications. Originally published in Japanese, under the direction of Tetsuro Aikawa, who used to work for JNR and JR East, they are:

Shuichiro Yamanouchi's ‘If There Were No Shinkansen’ published last September by  Springer Nature. Yamanouchi was the ex-chairman of JR East.

Masayuki Miyamoto's ‘Illustrated Science of Railways’, which is due to be published by Springer Nature in December.

Asahi Mochizuki and Junichi Ito's ‘The Essence of the Shinkansen EMU Technology’, which is forthcoming.
